Eye of Horus

After reading and researching about Eye of Horus, I have some impressive things to share

Eye of Horus is a left eye. The right eye is called "Eye of Ra". Horus's eye was torn up 6 pieces by Seth, and Thoth, the god of wisdom magically restored these pieces. This story shows the meaning of this eye is protection, healing, and sacrifice. The eye is made up 6 elements. Five of the elements presents 5 senses and the sixth one is the thought. The eyebrow represents thought because it is close to the brain. The pupil presents the sight. The right slide of the pupil, which is closest to the nose, is associated to the smell. The left slide of the pupil represents the hearing. The curved part presents taste. the teardrop represents the touch.

Each of the sacred unit fraction which the ancient Egyptians attributed to the six parts of the eye of the god Horus: 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16. 1/32. 1/64. These fractions, all with powers of two in their denominators, were used to represent the fraction of hekat, the unit measure of capacity for grains.

The meaningful number for me is number 7. I am a Catholic. The Christ says that let think 7 times 7 before you say anything. I like this word because I understand the power of the word. After saying anything, I cannot take these words back. When I am angry at anyone, it is better for me to be quiet. If I say some bad words, it will hurt my relationships with my husband or my friends.

  1. Jessica, the connections between the eye and the senses, and thought, are fascinating. You've made an interesting connection with the hekat unit. And, thank you for sharing with me your belief about the number 7. Beliefs connected to numbers are powerful and can be part of how we live our lives!
